EARTHQUAKE UPDATE: The Yellow House suffered only very superficial damage which has now been repaired and we are open as per usual. Some buildings and restaurants are closed because of earthquake damage but Valparaiso has returned almost to pre eartquake normality.

The airport is operating and regular bus services are back on schedule between Santiago and Valparaiso.

The Yellow House Bed and Breakfast in Valparaíso, Chile, is located on one of Valparaiso’s most historic and picturesque hills. It is just a few minutes walk from many of major points of interest, including Paseo 21 de Mayo, Calle Gran Britania, the National Naval and Maritime Museum, Plaza Sotomayor, Cerro Concepcion, the Bicentienial Walkway, the Port Markets, Inglesia Matriz and the Artilleria Ascensor.

Set in a quiet, primarily pedestrian passage and offering spectacular views over most of Valparaiso the Yellow House provides guests with an ideal base to explore Valparaiso and its surrounds. It is also just minutes from dozens of restaurants and cafes and Valparaiso’s main shopping precinct yet provides visitors with an opportunity to experience life in a genuine residential neighbourhood.

The Yellow House was built in the late 1800´s and now includes ensuite bathrooms, free WiFi and internet, book exchange, fully equipped guest kitchen and other facilities for our guests. We provide good quality maps and plenty of local tips to help you get the most from your stay in this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage City.

Each week we arrange small group excursions to Isla Negra, Quintay and the Casablanca Valley; hikes through the palm forest in the Ocoa section of La Campana National Park and guided tours of Valparaiso which provide the opportunity to meet the people and understand something of the culture in addition to just seeing the sights.

Our cooking classes allow you to learn how to prepare typical Chilean foods and so take part of Chile home with you to share with friends or family.
